The Haenertsburg Trout Association has a long standing history with hosting some memorable fly fishing competitions over the years.
It is once again time for all fly fishing enthusiasts to gather around the tranquil village of Haenertsburg in Magoebaskloof for the 2019 Haenertsburg Trout Challenge. This years event will bring back some nostalgic traditions, warming comradery and the excitement of casting into the waters that provide a refuge to the wild, sustainably bred trout of our region.
The 2019 Haenertsburg Trout Challenge will take place on Saturday 24 August 2019.
The competition structure will be as follows:
The challenge will take place on a number of lakes in the area and therefore anglers must make use of self-propelled floatation vessels including float tubes and pontoons. Mechanically propelled vessels are not permitted. Please feel free to contact us for clarification of the legality of any homemade or non-commercial crafts.

Morning session on one of four lakes in the local area.
Lunch and lake change over.
Afternoon session on one of four lakes (alternate from morning session).
Prize giving ceremony and auction to be held at Magoebaskloof Hotel.

HTA Annual General Meeting (AGM) 9:30 11:00 (everyone welcome)
The winners will be decided by the combined total lengths of fish caught by an angler or a team.
R 1 200 per individual angler
R 5 000 per team (4 anglers per team)
R 800 per junior entry (up to 16 years)
